What this means for a collector
- A PSA 8 typically sells for a little over twice the raw near-mint card. A PSA 8 priced above about 3.2× raw is dearer, relative to raw, than three quarters of the cards in this group.
- PSA 8 sits far closer to raw than to PSA 10: the PSA 10 of the same card is typically worth 12 to 25 times as much.
- A PSA 9 is typically worth about twice a PSA 8. The step is steepest for cheap cards (0.43× under €50) and smallest above €250 (0.53×).
- Selling a €177 PSA 8 at its fair value leaves you about €157 on Cardmarket and €168 as a private seller on eBay.de, after fees, shipping and a small price discount.
- Cheap PSA 8s are the hard ones to sell in Europe: 31% of those under €50 had an EU sale in 90 days, against 61% above €50.

Method and limits
How we measured it
- We took every English card with a PSA 8 fair value on 25 October 2026 that rests on at least 3 PSA 8 sales in the previous 12 months: 454 cards and 6,873 sales.
- For each card we divided the PSA 8 fair value by the same card’s raw near-mint, PSA 9 and PSA 10 fair values, when those also rest on at least 3 sales. We report the median and the middle half of the ratios for each PSA 8 price tier.
- Net proceeds apply our fee table of 26 October 2026 to one sale at fair value: Cardmarket’s 5% fee and 1% trustee fee, eBay.de’s 0% private-seller fee, €6 tracked shipping and a 2% discount to sell one copy.
What it can’t tell you
- These are the cards we track: 443 of the 454 are from the EX series (2003–2007) and 11 are POP promos. Modern cards may price a PSA 8 differently.
- A single card can sit far from the median ratio. A quarter of cards are above the bracketed range and a quarter below, so check the card’s own page before you buy or sell.
- The PSA 10 ratio under €50 rests on 31 cards, so treat it as rough.
- Cardmarket does not publish completed sales. EU sales on Cardmarket are inferred from listings that disappeared, and we have collected those only since 21 October 2026, so the EU shares are a floor.
- Net proceeds assume a sale at fair value. Selling quickly, or several copies at once, usually means accepting less.
